Se desarrolló bajo un enfoque mixto (cuantitativo–cualitativo), aplicando una encuesta estructurada a 100 habitantes, observación directa de campo y revisión documental de fuentes institucionales (ANM, CRA, Alcaldía). La información recolectada se procesó mediante análisis estadístico descriptivo y la aplicación de la metodología de Leopold para la evaluación de impactos socioambientales. Los resultados revelaron que la comunidad percibe altos niveles de riesgo y deterioro ambiental, especialmente en la calidad del agua, la pérdida de cobertura vegetal y la afectación de actividades productivas como la pesca y el riego. La mayoría de los impactos identificados se clasificaron como severos o críticos, afectando principalmente los componentes físicos (agua, suelo y aire) y biológicos (flora y fauna). El componente socioeconómico mostró consecuencias negativas sobre la salud y la calidad de vida, siendo mínimos los beneficios económicos locales. Así mismo, se resalta que la minería ilegal ha incrementado la vulnerabilidad ambiental y social del territorio, evidenciando la necesidad de aplicar medidas preventivas, correctoras y compensatorias, fortalecer la educación ambiental comunitaria y consolidar estrategias interinstitucionales que promuevan la sostenibilidad y la recuperación de los ecosistemas afectados.The present research aimed to analyze the community perception regarding environmental vulnerability generated by illegal mining activities in the village of Arroyo de Piedra, municipality of Luruaco, Atlántico department. The study was developed under a mixed approach (quantitative–qualitative) and a non-experimental, descriptive, and correlational design, applying a structured survey to 100 inhabitants, direct field observation, and documentary review of institutional sources (ANM, CRA, and the Municipal Mayor’s Office). The information collected was processed through descriptive statistical analysis and the application of the Leopold methodology for the evaluation of socio-environmental impacts. The results revealed that the community perceives high levels of risk and environmental degradation, especially in water quality, loss of vegetation cover, and the impact on productive activities such as fishing and irrigation. Most of the identified impacts were classified as severe or critical, mainly affecting the physical components (water, soil, and air) and biological components (flora and fauna). The socioeconomic component showed negative consequences on health and quality of life, while local economic benefits were minimal.
